ROBERT REHME APPOINTED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF

San Francisco, CA (August 2, 1999)—The National Film Preservation Foundation (NFPF) today announced the appointment of veteran film executive and producer Robert G. Rehme to its Board of Directors. The appointment, made by The Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, is for a four-year term.

Recently reelected to a second term as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Mr. Rehme has led the industry organization since 1992. He currently heads Rehme Productions, an independent film and television production company. With partner Mace Neufeld, he has produced such hit films as PATRIOT GAMES, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, and BEVERLY HILLS COP 3 and numerous television projects. He was Co-Chairman and CEO of New World Entertainment, Inc. from 1983-89. After a successful tenure supervising worldwide marketing and distribution for Universal Pictures in the early 1980s, he was named President.

In accepting the appointment, Mr. Rehme remarked, "The NFPF is changing the way we think about our film heritage. I am delighted to join the Board of Directors in advancing film preservation across the country."

The National Film Preservation Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving America's film heritage. Working with archives and others who appreciate film, the NFPF supports film preservation activities nationwide that ensure the physical survival of film for future generations and improve access to film for study, education and exhibition. The NFPF focuses on "orphan films" that are not protected by commercial interests.
