Established in 1968, the University of Alaska Film Archives is dedicated to preserving moving images of Alaska. It consists primarily of films and footage produced between 1920 and 1959, the year of Alaska statehood. Roughly 95% of the collection, which totals 1,550 reels (665,000 feet) is 16mm film. Both amateur and professional work is included. Images are available for research and production use.
