Archives by Region

Film archives around the country are dedicated to saving America's film heritage. Some archives are independent nonprofit organizations; others are part of larger museums, libraries, universities, historical societies, and federal, state, or local governments. All strive to store their films under the proper environmental conditions, copy decaying film onto newer stock, catalog their materials, and make their collections available to the public.

Organizations from Alaska to Florida contributed to this online directory. There are many more archives that we have not yet had an opportunity to contact. If you represent a nonprofit or government organization in the U.S. with a publicly accessible film collection and would like to include your organization in the Community of Film Archives directory, please contact the NFPF. For more information on the collections and programs of a specific archive, please contact that organization directly.
